I just tried to click stream next to a link on another computer which did not have WinAmp installed and Windows Media Player in XP came up. It then tried to play each song and then finally gave me this error dialog "The server is refusing to fulfill the requested operation". This works if you associate the m3u files with WinAmp though. Anyone know how to fix this so that it will work with Windows Media Player in XP? I looked at the faq and didn't see any reference to this issue.

Thanks..

I noticed that if I set khttpd_files=1 in the config file that I can now stream from Windows Media Player.

Is there any way we can get Hijack to allow Windows Media Player to work like WinAmp does without having to have khttpd_files=1?

I have, like, zero interest in anything to do with WinXP.

But if you were to trace the connection and find out what WimpyMedia is asking for, then perhaps we'd have enough info to see if it's something trivial.

Look up the "khttpd_verbose" setting for Hijack (in the Hijack FAQ).

Here is the data from WinAmp and Windows Media Player:

WinAmp with khttpd_files=0 or 1:
khttpd: 192.168.1.5 connection from 192.168.1.8
khttpd: GET "/Dio_-_The_Last_In_Line.m3u?FID=45d1&EXT=.m3u"
khttpd: 192.168.1.5 connection from 192.168.1.8
khttpd: GET "/Dio%20%2D%20The%20Last%20In%20Line.m3u?FID=45d0&EXT=.mp3"
Outcome: Song starts playing as expected.

WMP with khttpd_files=0:
khttpd: 192.168.1.5 connection from 192.168.1.8
khttpd: GET "/Dio_-_The_Last_In_Line.m3u?FID=45d1&EXT=.m3u"
khttpd: 192.168.1.5 connection from 192.168.1.8
khttpd: GET "/Dio%20%2D%20The%20Last%20In%20Line.m3u?FID=45d0&EXT=.mp3"
Then WMP Popups up this error message:
"The server is refusing to fulfill the requested operation."

WMP with khttpd_file=1:
khttpd: 192.168.1.5 connection from 192.168.1.8
khttpd: GET "/Dio_-_The_Last_In_Line.m3u?FID=45d1&EXT=.m3u"
khttpd: 192.168.1.5 connection from 192.168.1.8
khttpd: GET "/Dio%20%2D%20The%20Last%20In%20Line.m3u?FID=45d0&EXT=.mp3"
<about a 30 second or so delay here>
khttpd: 192.168.1.5 connection from 192.168.1.8
khttpd: GET "/ID3"
khttpd: open(/ID3) failed, rc=-2
khttpd: 192.168.1.5 connection from 192.168.1.8
khttpd: GET "/"
khttpd: 192.168.1.5 connection from 192.168.1.8
khttpd: GET "/TRCK"
khttpd: open(/TRCK) failed, rc=-2

khttpd: GET "/The%20Last%20In%20LineTALB"
khttpd: open(/The Last In LineTALB) failed, rc=-2
khttpd: 192.168.1.5 connection from 192.168.1.8
khttpd: GET "/The%20Last%20In%20LineTPE1"

Aw, jeez, that's the problem. You're trying to play Dio tracks.

Here is the data with khttpd_verbose=2 . I stopped it at the end cause WMP keeps trying a bunch of invalid things really fast. Also, the playlist in WMP looks currupted too.

One interesting thing.. I saved the m3u file from WinAmp and loaded it with WMP. That seemed to work fine. So it seems the problem is when the m3u file is directly grabbed by WMP. Here is the data:

This is WMP using the m3u file that I saved from WinAmp(which works fine):

khttpd: 192.168.1.5 connection from 192.168.1.8
khttpd: request_header = "GET /Tesla%20%2D%20Comin%27%20Atcha%20Live%2Ftruckin%2
7?FID=101e0&EXT=.mp3 HTTP/1.1
Accept: */*
User-Agent: NSPlayer/8.0.0.4477
Accept-Encoding: gzip, deflate
Host: mobilemp3
Connection: Keep-Alive

"
khttpd: GET "/Tesla%20%2D%20Comin%27%20Atcha%20Live%2Ftruckin%27?FID=101e0&EXT=.
mp3"

Here is the data from WMP when it gets the m3u file directly from Hijack:

Okay, I'll put out a v259 before I hit the bike trails in a few minutes. Give it a try, and let me know if anything changes.

Cheers

Ah, see? What'd I tell you? Try to download a Tesla track and the solution presents itself.

I noticed that WMP has the old problem like WinAmp had where it shows %20 for spaces and such in the playlist.

Here is the data using the new v259 Hijack:

Playing a single track (doesn't work):
khttpd: 192.168.1.5 connection from 192.168.1.8
khttpd: request_header = "GET /Tesla_-_Lodi.m3u?FID=10261&EXT=.m3u HTTP/1.1
Accept: image/gif, image/x-xbitmap, image/jpeg, image/pjpeg, application/vnd.ms-excel, application/msword, application/vnd.ms-powerpoint, */*
Referer: http://mobilemp3/?FID=101d1&EXT=.htm
Accept-Language: en-us
Accept-Encoding: gzip, deflate
User-Agent: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows NT 5.1)
Host: mobilemp3
Connection: Keep-Alive

"khttpd: GET "/Tesla_-_Lodi.m3u?FID=10261&EXT=.m3u"
khttpd: 192.168.1.5 connection from 192.168.1.8
khttpd: request_header = "GET /Tesla%20%2D%20Lodi.m3u?FID=10260&EXT=.mp3 HTTP/1.1
Accept: */*
User-Agent: Windows-Media-Player/8.00.00.4477
Accept-Encoding: gzip, deflate
Host: mobilemp3
Connection: Keep-Alive

"khttpd: GET "/Tesla%20%2D%20Lodi.m3u?FID=10260&EXT=.mp3"
khttpd: 192.168.1.5 connection from 192.168.1.8
khttpd: request_header = "GET /ID3 HTTP/1.1
Accept: */*
User-Agent: NSPlayer/8.0.0.4477
Accept-Encoding: gzip, deflate
Host: mobilemp3
Connection: Keep-Alive

"khttpd: GET "/ID3"
khttpd: open(/ID3) failed, rc=-2

This is playing a whole CD playlist (works, but has issues moving around tracks):
khttpd: 192.168.1.5 connection from 192.168.1.8
khttpd: request_header = "GET /Five_Man_Acoustical_Jam.m3u?FID=101d1&EXT=.m3u HTTP/1.1
Accept: image/gif, image/x-xbitmap, image/jpeg, image/pjpeg, application/vnd.ms-excel, application/msword, application/vnd.ms-powerpoint, */*
Referer: http://mobilemp3/?FID=101c1&EXT=.htm
Accept-Language: en-us
Accept-Encoding: gzip, deflate
User-Agent: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows NT 5.1)
Host: mobilemp3
Connection: Keep-Alive

"khttpd: GET "/Five_Man_Acoustical_Jam.m3u?FID=101d1&EXT=.m3u"
khttpd: 192.168.1.5 connection from 192.168.1.8
khttpd: request_header = "GET /Tesla%20%2D%20Comin%27%20Atcha%20Live%2Ftruckin%27?FID=101e0&EXT=.mp3 HTTP/1.1
Accept: */*
User-Agent: NSPlayer/8.0.0.4477
Accept-Encoding: gzip, deflate
Host: mobilemp3
Connection: Keep-Alive

"khttpd: GET "/Tesla%20%2D%20Comin%27%20Atcha%20Live%2Ftruckin%27?FID=101e0&EXT=.mp3"

Well, I'm not going to waste any more time on this, but I will put out a v260 shortly with another attempt to get it to play stuff. The %20 stuff is Microsoft's problem.

Cheers
